METRO Celebrates National Dump the Pump Day with #61616 Event in Cincinnati, Ohio

(Pewaukee, Wis…June 8, 2016) AFFIRM was selected by Cincinnati’s METRO bus system to create a major ridership event in recognition of National Dump the Pump Day, which is sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and will be held June 16, 2016. To encourage people to ride public transportation and save money, AFFIRM and METRO have launched #61616, a once-in-a-lifetime ridership event, to celebrate the once-in-a-lifetime Dump the Pump Day date.

To participate, Cincinnatians pledge to ride METRO on 6/16 at After pledging, they receive “text tickets” on their mobile phones that will be redeemable on 6/16. They will also be automatically entered to win several prizes from the event’s sponsors including concert tickets and theme park passes.

On #61616, pledgers will redeem their text tickets for free METRO Day Passes at four select METRO bus stops. There will be free refreshments from Qdoba Mexican Eats, Schweppes Sparkling Water, Busken Bakery, The Pop Shop, and Pit to Plate as well as free entertainment from local Cincinnati bands: Jess Lamb, Buggs tha Rocka, Elementree Livity Project, and The Cliftones (acoustic).

Along with event planning, AFFIRM has designed and developed all creative for the campaign including online banner, transit, and print ads as well as radio commercials and several promotional items including t-shirts and stickers. The agency also created and maintains the campaign website,, which is updated in real-time with pledges and other event information.
