AFFIRM Celebrates Successful Transit Event for METRO Bus System in Cincinnati

(Pewaukee, Wis… June 20, 2016) On Thursday, June 16, 2016, AFFIRM helped Cincinnati bus system, METRO, celebrate National Dump the Pump Day with a city-wide transit event. AFFIRM has been planning, developing, and executing all of METRO’s creative advertising materials since early 2016.

Prior to the event, Cincinnati residents, employees, and transit users were asked to pledge to ride METRO on #61616 at the event’s website, After pledging, each individual received a text ticket. AFFIRM also developed web banner, radio, print, social media, and transit ads to promote the event as well as several promotional items including stickers and t-shirts.

On #61616, METRO hosted events at four bus stops in the Cincinnati area where people could redeem their text tickets for a free METRO Day Pass. Each stop featured free food, live music from popular bands local to Cincinnati, raffle prizes, and other freebies. Among the event sponsors were Qdoba Mexican Eats, Natorp’s Nursery, The Pop Shop, Hubbard Radio, Radio One, Pit to Plate, Schweppes Sparkling Water, and Busken Bakery.

When the event ended, 1,641 people had pledged to ride METRO. This number far surpasses the system’s previous ridership events and provides positive foreshadowing for METRO’s future.

“Planning and hosting #61616 alongside METRO was an incredible experience,” says AFFIRM Assistant Account Executive, Karissa Holzbauer. “Seeing the joy on people’s faces as we celebrated Dump the Pump Day and making a positive impact on the METRO brand was more rewarding than I could have ever expected. We’re already looking forward to our next campaign and outreach effort with METRO this fall,” concluded Holzbauer.
