AFFIRM Wins Ten American Advertising ADDY Awards Including Best of Show
(Pewaukee, WI… February 29, 2016) AFFIRM won a total of ten ADDY Awards including the competition’s top award, BEST OF SHOW, at the 2016 American Advertising Awards Show hosted at UW-Madison’s Union South on Saturday, February 27, 2016. The American Advertising Awards are the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition, aiming to recognize and reward creative excellence in the art of advertising and attracts more than 50,000 entries annually through local competitions across the country. The American Advertising Federation of Madison Awards is the only Southeastern Wisconsin point of entry to the regional and national American Advertising Awards.
AFFIRM won BEST OF SHOW and a Gold ADDY for the ZERO IN WISCONSIN “Driver Surprise” TV Commercials in the category of Single Medium Public Service Campaign. The series of “Driver Surprise” TV Commercials was created for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s ZERO IN WISCONSIN campaign to promote seat belt use. The commercials show unsuspecting Wisconsin drivers arriving at a gas station only to be surprised “candid camera”-style by NFL legend Donald Driver, who reinforces the importance of always wearing a seat belt while driving. Judges defined this piece as “very innovative, funny and smart. It was creative, unexpected and a humorous way to promote an important message that appeals to a large audience. Excellent production value and unique ads that share an incredibly vital message that ultimately saves lives.”
The “Driver Surprise” campaign also won two Silver ADDY awards for an individual TV Commercial and the “Driver Surprise” Outtakes Video.
In receiving the BEST OF SHOW award, AFFIRM principal Danny Mager said, “There’s are a lot of great work being done by agencies in Madison and Milwaukee, so to win the Best of Show award for work that we’ve done is especially gratifying. It’s a credit to the great team we have at AFFIRM and having the kinds of clients who give us the creative license to get their message out in ways that are unique and engaging,” he concluded.

AFFIRM won Silver ADDY Awards for the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s DOSE OF REALITY Web Banner Ads and “Overdose” TV Commercial in the categories of Advertising & Promotion – Web Banner Ads and Public Service Television, respectively. The DOSE OF REALITY: Prevent Prescription Painkiller Abuse in Wisconsin public education, awareness, and prevention campaign launched in September 2015 and aims to inform and educate Wisconsinites about the improper use and dangers of prescription painkillers and encourage positive action.
AFFIRM won a Gold ADDY Award for the Dane County Regional Airport WHO KNEW?! Press Kit, and Silver ADDYs for Video Pre-Roll Ads, and Radio Advertising. The WHO KNEW?! Campaign uses a fun, quiz show format featuring National Public Radio host Michael Feldman to educate Madison area travelers about the benefits of flying out of Dane County Regional Airport as compared to faraway big city airports.
Lastly, AFFIRM won a Gold ADDY in the category of Collateral – Card, Invitation, Announcement for the 1960’s psychedelic-style poster it designed for “50Fest”, a large 50th birthday event that took place in Madison over Labor Day weekend.
All of AFFIRM’s Gold ADDY winners will now automatically advance to the American Advertising Federation Regional Awards competition in Minneapolis this spring. Regional winners will then advance to the National competition.
