Why In-Person Meetings are Important

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind! I have spent the majority of my time on the road traveling to clients in Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and Madison, but wouldn’t have it any other way. In today’s world, it’s very easy to bypass face-to-face meetings for technology, like video conferencing or teleconferencing. But, face-to-face communication is extremely important to business success. Here are a few reasons why you should make in-person meetings with your clients a priority:

  • In-person contact allows for strong relationship-building and, therefore, business growth
  • Account Executives can capture their clients’ attention, engage them in conversation, and drive productive collaboration between client and agency
  • Face-to-face meetings allow for trust-building and agreement on action items
  • Body language!

That last bullet point is extremely important. While, in many respects, technology is great for business and allows for constant communication, in-person meetings allow clients and Account Executives to pick up on body language, a crucial form of communication that can’t be expressed via email, telephone, and even video conferencing.

So, next time you’re scheduling a client meeting, rethink the decision to meet over the phone or video. By meeting in person, you can better avoid misinterpretation of content, more quickly come to an agreement or understanding, and maintain a strong client-agency relationship.
