4 Tips for Building & Maintaining Strong Client Relationships
One of the most important aspects of being an account executive is fostering and maintaining client relationships. At AFFIRM, we work hard to make our clients feel respected, comfortable, and confident in our team. As a result, some of our clients have been with us for over 10 years.
Here are a few tips for building and maintaining strong client relationships:
- Do your research. To a certain extent, their business is your business. Take an hour or two to fully dive into their company, learn about their mission and vision, and make yourself comfortable with their operations. That way, you’ll be able to provide more sound advice when it comes to your work for them.
- Communicate. Responsiveness is one of the, if not THE, most important tip. Be sure emails aren’t left unread and voicemails aren’t unreturned. The respect you give your clients will be the respect you receive back from them.
- Stay positive. When there are bumps in the road, maintain a positive outlook. If you’re confident in your ability to fix the problem, your client will be too.
- Be honest. Better known as “Be yourself.” Just like any other relationship, a client relationship will be strongest when you’re true to who you are. Take the time to get to know your client on a personal level and you’ll be able to better communicate, understand each other, and work through the good and bad.
