Arby’s Has the Last Laugh

If you are a fan or follower of television talk shows, you probably know this last week marked the end of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”.  The news- and politics-based comedy show has never been shy about poking fun at everybody and everything they deem worthy of ridicule.  That list includes regular target, Arby’s.

As you’ll see in the video below, “The Daily Show” team loves to make Arby’s jokes.  They generally don’t go too far or get particularly specific, but they’re relentless in their teasing of Arby’s and its menu.

Arby’s knows there is power in publicity, even when you’re the butt of a joke.  I remember when I saw “Super Size Me” for the first time, I ate McDonald’s like a maniac for a week afterwards.  The brand reminder can be more powerful than the intended message to stay away.

With that in mind, they’ve rolled with the punches and enjoyed tons of free promotion along the way.  Plus, they’re now in a position to spin all of those jokes into a funny and super PR-friendly message.  Take THAT!

We also know how to take a joke and we know how to generate positive attention (INSPIRED FUN is one of our core values, after all). We’ll be happy to take you to lunch and discuss how you can start generating positive attention, as well – no joke!
