Wisconsin DOJ Largest Fall Drug Take Back Collection; Leading National Drug Disposal Program
(Pewaukee, Wis…November 27, 2017) The Wisconsin Department of Justice, Office of Attorney General Brad Schimel announced the official collection total for October’s Drug Take Back event. This fall, Wisconsin collected 63,941 lbs. of unused medications, which is the largest fall drug take back collection to date.
Wisconsin had more law enforcement agencies participate in the event than other state in the country. 266 police and sheriff’s departments hosted 130 Drug Take Back events on October 28 and have provided 349 permanent drug disposal drop boxes to dispose of unused medications all year long.
“Affirm is extremely proud to work with the Wisconsin Department of Justice on the DOSE OF REALITY campaign and in promoting Drug Take Back Day,” said Laura Monagle, APR, vice president of client services and public relations. “The more unused prescription painkillers can be properly disposed of, the less they are available for misuse and abuse.”
