MONAGLE HELPS EMPLOYERS NAVIGATE TOUGH TOPICS AFFECTING WORKPLACE COMMUNICATIONS
AFFIRM’s Vice President of Client Services and Public Relations, Laura Monagle, APR was a featured presenter in October on two important topics affecting workplaces and employers: employee sexual misconduct allegations and opioids. Laura was privileged to share a panel discussion on #TimesUp and #MeToo: A Legal and Public Relations Perspective with labor and employment attorneys Margaret Kurlinski and Rebeca Lopez of Godfrey & Kahn S.C. at the statewide Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Conference on October 11th. On October 18th, Monagle discussed opioid communications for workplaces at the Vorpahl Fire & Safety 3rd Annual Safety Day, held at Lambeau Field.
“These are tough topics for an employer to consider,” said Monagle. “However, it is much better to begin to examine your policies, proactively communicate them and be ready to speak about them. With opioids, prevention and awareness might save someone’s life. With sexual misconduct, it’s important to be prepared to respond to the media in addition to employee concerns,” she continued. “As the need for employee recruitment and retention continues to grow, we want our companies to be perceived as safe, healthy places to work. A solid communications plan is key – it was a pleasure to exchange information and tips with SHRM and Safety Day attendees, and learn from them as well,” Monagle concluded.
