The Spirit of Collaboration
One of AFFIRM’s primary Core Values is to be Openly Collaborative. We recently lived this value to the fullest by managing the collaborative effort of our most important public sector clients, the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), on a Drugged Driving advertising campaign. Drugged driving, which is largely made up of people dangerously operating their vehicles while on prescription opioid painkillers, is becoming more and more of a problem on Wisconsin roadways. This new safety issue fit right into two of the campaigns we’re executing on behalf of the state agencies, WisDOT’s ZERO IN WISCONSIN Highway Safety Campaign and DOJ’s DOSE OF REALITY Prevent Prescription Painkiller Abuse Campaign.
AFFIRM presented the collaborative, joint effort to both agencies in early 2016. Both were extremely receptive but wanted to see a creative concept first that sufficiently addressed the issue and could be done within each agency’s budget parameters. AFFIRM developed ONE AND THE SAME, an innovative approach that equated drugged driving with drunk driving by using alcohol-related imagery while addressing prescription painkillers. The end result recently won a Gold ADDY Award at the annual American Advertising Federation – Southeastern Wisconsin awards ceremony. Both DOJ and WisDOT now have beautiful glass ADDY trophies as a constant reminder to how the spirit of collaboration can work, especially for a good cause!
