Mark Skowron

Senior Digital Designer

How I started in this business:

As a kid, I realized that I had artistic talent. When my high school teacher challenged me to look into graphic design as a career option, my mind was made up – I was going to be a designer. After spending several years working in print design and production art, I took my talents to the next level and began designing for digital experiences. I learned to write HTML and CSS, and refined my front-end development skills as well. To me, this was a natural progression in my career, and I couldn’t be happier.

What I like most about my job:

Solving problems. In web design, it seems like every day there’s something new. There’s always something new to learn, something that I can do better, or something that I can help our clients with to achieve the most user-friendly digital solution.

When I’m not at work:

I’m spending time with my wife and two boys, boating, fishing, golfing, downhill skiing – basically anything recreational outdoors. I also love projects where I’m building things with my hands, like carpentry and woodworking. When I can find time for it, I enjoy playing guitar as well.

Best advice I ever received:

Value people. Put people ahead of the project and try to understand their backgrounds and take an interest in them. Work will always change but people are what matter.

If I weren’t doing this:

Instead of designing 2-dimensional experiences for print and web, I’d love to create items in 3D such as furniture, metalworking, or even finish carpentry.

To me, Positively Engaging Marketing means:

You’re getting our best, most upbeat, fun, and creative work. When we deliver the final product to our customers, we are extremely proud of every single part of it. Not only do we take pride in our work, but we go out of our way to make sure our clients are happy.
