Car Free Day Long Island Campaign

over 75 participating organizations

In its ongoing efforts to implement the TRANSIT SOLUTIONS Campaign to Increase Transit Usage in Nassau County, AFFIRM (formerly Staples Marketing) wanted to bring the celebration of International Car Free Day to Long Island in order to further educate residents on ways to get around Long Island besides driving on its congested roadways.

AFFIRM developed the CAR FREE DAY LONG ISLAND brand and put together a coalition of partners that launched the 1st annual event in 2013, and greatly expanded the 2nd Annual Car Free Day Long Island in 2014.  Among the activities the agency performed include conducting monthly Planning Committee meetings, creating and updating the Car Free Day LI website, executing geo-targeted online and radio advertising, and organizing the Car Free Day LI Rally at Farmingdale State College.

Over 75 participating organizations including LI companies, colleges, business, civic and environmental organizations, and municipalities.

2,866 pledges to go car free or car-lite in 2014, a 12% increase over 2013.

Let’s get together. We’d love to see what we can do for you.
