AFFIRM Re-Wins Long Island Rail Road Contract to Increase Transit Usage in Nassau County
(Pewaukee, WI…January 3, 2018) After a competitive bidding process, AFFIRM has been awarded a new contract to continue implementing the Long Island Rail Road’s Campaign to Increase Transit Usage in Nassau County, New York. AFFIRM originally launched the campaign it branded as TRANSIT SOLUTIONS in March 2006. A major focus of the effort is marketing outreach to employers in Nassau County to educate them about offering pre-tax transit benefits to their employees. As a result of this effort, dozens of Long Island employers now offer the money-saving, and air quality improving, transit benefit to their workers. Another key success of the campaign has been the creation and launch of the annual CAR FREE DAY LONG ISLAND event that promotes going car free or car-lite on International Car Free Day every September 22. During the fifth annual event in September 2017, a record 4,100 Long Islanders pledged to participate in order to help improve air quality and reduce traffic congestion in their communities.
During the new contract period, which extends through 2019, AFFIRM will continue to work with Long Island-based TRANSIT SOLUTIONS Manager and well-known transit advocate Rosemary Mascali on expanding and enhancing the program, including communicating major transit enhancements on Long Island such as the Third Track Long Island Rail Road Expansion Project. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue working on the TRANSIT SOLUTIONS campaign and CAR FREE DAY LONG ISLAND”, said AFFIRM Senior Account Executive and New York native Amy Opad, “with all of the exciting new transit projects happening on Long Island, it’s a great time to be collaborating with the LIRR to educate people about these options and the transit benefit that makes it easy to take advantage of them”.
