How to Survive Wisconsin Winter

With the leaves practically gone and temperatures slowly dropping, a Wisconsin winter is surely on its way. With the cold upon us, here are some tips on how to prepare and survive the (sometimes) brutal Wisconsin winter.

  • Keep warm – The weather in Wisconsin can range anywhere from upper 30 degree temperatures to anything below zero. Some days we’ll get light fluffy snow like in the movies and other days we’re fighting a vicious snow storm. Make sure to layer your clothes and bundle up in your warmest jacket…with a scarf, hat, and gloves of course!
  • Make extra time to get places– This is something I relearn every year: snow and cold definitely slow you down. Don’t forget to make extra time to defrost your car and get to the airport or wherever else you may be headed.
  • Stay healthy – It’s one of the worst feelings to get sick, especially in the winter. Go back to the basics and remember to stay hydrated, active, and get plenty of rest.
  • Find joy in the little things – Whether it’s the holiday festivities, the seasonal coffee drinks, the outdoor winter activities, or a combination of it all, there’s always something to look forward to and find joy in. May we embrace Wisconsin winter for what it is and soon enough we can look forward to warmer seasons!
